Stomach pain and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) tend to go hand and hand. IBS is a disorder of the intestines that occurs when your digestive tract is not working properly. First and foremost, it is encouraged that individuals suffering with IBS try to eat a healthy diet that is rich in fiber. Avoiding foods that tend to trigger symptoms such as greasy and spicy foods can help quite a bit. Regular exercise and managing stress have also been known to help control the symptoms of IBS.
For some individuals that suffer with IBS, it can be disabling. The pain, bloating, and other symptoms can cause individuals to be unable to work, travel, or even attend social events.
